Modding Cards

A card adds mods for a game or a tool to GPU Selector, ready to use. It can download mods, add-ons, shaders or programs, and start the game for you. Cards live in the Mods tab (press 5), in the Modding Cards view.

Get a Card

  1. Open the Mods tab.
  2. Switch to Modding Cards (the switch at the top).
  3. Click + Add Mod.
  4. Pick one:
    • Cards on the House: cards made by us, like the DOOM card.
    • Load from URL: a link to a card (.json, or a .zip / .7z card package).
    • Load from File: a card on your PC.
  5. Click Load Card.

You can also drag a card file onto the list.

Safety

  1. Cards can download and install files, including programs.
  2. GPU Selector scans every download with Windows Security, and checks it against known-malware lists.
  3. No scan is perfect. Only load cards from people you trust.
  4. Turn the known-malware check on or off in Settings, Download Safety.

Using a Card

  • Play installs what is needed (the first time) and starts the game.
  • Guide opens the card's own guide in your browser, when it has one.
  • A card can have its own tabs, colors and font. Its maker decides.
  • Hide a card, or sort the list, with the buttons next to Sort.
Inject Mode: while Inject Mode is on, Play buttons show the syringe. ReShade then goes into the game too. Turn Inject Mode off on the ReShade card if the game already works with its mods.

The DOOM Card

The DOOM card brings hundreds of DOOM mods, map packs and games, ready to play.

  1. Your Games: GPU Selector looks for DOOM on your PC. No DOOM? Press Get Freedoom (free).
  2. Mods: pick a mod and press Install & Play.
  3. 3D: press 3D on a mod to play it in Stereo 3D (UZDoom, GZDoom, LZDoom and Doomsday).
  4. Options: 3D Settings, your own WADs, source ports and more.
  • Steam games made with GZDoom, like Hedon and Mohrta, can play in 3D too.
  • A 3D crosshair sits at the depth of what you aim at.
  • Mods from itch.io and ModDB open in your browser. Download the file, and the card finds it.
  • Stereo 3D for more DOOM engines will come in time.

Removing What Cards Installed

  1. Open Settings, Card Installs.
  2. It lists everything your cards put on this PC, grouped by card and game.
  3. Remove one game's files, or press Remove All for a card.

Removing a card can also take its files off your games. GPU Selector only removes files a card installed. Files you changed yourself are left alone.

Make Your Own Card

Anyone can make a card. A card is a .json file, with a .zip package when it brings its own files.
